All About Michael Wyot

Flores Tortillas

City: Whitney, Texas

Growing up in a small Central Texas town not far from Kreuz Market, Black's Barbecue and Smitty's Market, Michael’s passion for good barbecue began well before it was trendy. After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, Michael decided he wanted to pursue something a little less formal and a bit more gritty and familiar. Within the first year of opening his first business, a Central Texas style bbq food trailer with some Tex-Mex flair, Flores Barbecue, Daniel Vaughn deemed Michael’s barbecue worthy of a place on Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ Joints. Soon thereafter, while taking a break from the BBQ business to focus on family, Michael perfected his recipe for smoked beef-tallow infused flour tortillas, eventually giving rise to his current business venture, Flores Tortillas.
